In this fourth of the Chippy Chipmunk series, when Chippy meets a unique chipmunk, he learns to feel empathy and shows kindness. Initially Chippy refuses to help the newcomer, Harriet, but his friends help him to have a change of heart. By learning to imagine himself as other wildlife, he is able to picture himself in Harriet's situation. Ultimately he helps her dig a new burrow and shares his acorns with her. The two become friends. Chippy sees that diversity makes the world more beautiful. Included are fun facts and notes on ways to develop empathy in children.
